2011 Ford Fusion
The 2011 Fusion is Ford’s midsize sedan perfect for traveling alone or with the family. The Fusion boasts impressive fuel economy, solid performance, a nice and spacious interior, and a multitude of technological features.
The midsize sedan is available in S, SE, Sport, and SEL trim levels. Cruise control, keyless entry, MyKey system, air conditioning, full power accessories, 16-inch alloy wheels, blind-spot mirrors, and a four-speaker audio system with a CD player and auxiliary jack come standard on the base S trim. The SE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, eight-way adjustable power driver seat, and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio. The Fusion Sport adds 18-inch wheels, a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, leather trimmed seats, a ten way adjustable power driver seat, and the SYNC communications interface. The SEL adds a numerical keyless entry pad, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The Fusion comes available with three engines. Standard on the S, SE, and SEL models is a 175-hp 2.5-liter four cylinder. The engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission, with an optional six-speed automatic. A 240-hp 3.0-liter V6 is optional on the SE and SEL models and is only available with the six-speed automatic transmission. The Sport solely runs on a six-speed automatic 3.5-liter V6 which outputs 263-hp.
Created with high quality materials and an abundance of space, the Fusion S, SE, SEL, and Sport models’ interiors are both attractive and comfortable. Storage space is plentiful throughout the cabin and the roomy trunk features 16.5-cubic-feet. The Fusion’s exterior is solid with an aggressive front that features a three-bar chrome grill. A wide variety of packages are available on certain models including the Appearance Package, Luxury Package, and several Rapid Spec packages.
Ford Fusion Hybrid
Also available is the fuel efficient Fusion Hybrid. The hybrid model comes with a 2.5-liter four cylinder gasoline engine, paired with an electric motor. The EPA estimates that the Fusion Hybrid receives 41/36mpg city/highway.
A variety of features come standard on the hybrid model, including: 17-inch alloy wheels, eco-friendly cloth seats, the MyKey system, keyless-entry security pad, foglamps, cruise control, eight-way adjustable power driver seats, six-way adjustable power passenger seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, Ford SYNC communications interface with Bluetooth, and a six-speaker audio system with a CD/MP3 player and satellite radio. The hybrid’s interior is similar in high quality materials and comfort as the other Fusions, but differs slightly with a little less trunk space at 11.8 cubic feet. The handsome exterior adds style to the hybrid with a striking three-bar chrome grille.
Two packages are available on the Fusion Hybrid. The Rapid Spec 501A adds BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), Sound by Sony, a power moonroof, rear view camera, and rain sensing wipers. The Rapid Spec 502A package includes all of the first package’s features plus heated leather-trimmed first row seating and a navigation system with IRIUS traffic and Travel Link.
All Fusions come standard with a slew of safety features. Antilock brakes, stability control, and front seat side and side curtain airbags are standard on all Fusions. The Fusion earned a top rating of ‘Good’ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for frontal and side impact crash protection.
